Vauxhall has unveiled a new pricing structure for the New Grandland Electric, delivering savings of up to £4,700. Both the Design and GS trims are now priced under £40,000, providing customers with lower VED rates.
The New Grandland Electric now starts at £37,345 in Design trim, reflecting a £3,650 saving. The GS trim is priced at £38,495, a £4,650 reduction, while the Ultimate trim offers the largest saving of £4,700, with a new On The Road (OTR) price of £40,495. With the Design and GS trims falling below the £40,000 VED threshold, buyers avoid the additional 'expensive car supplement,' saving £1,640 over four years—approximately £40 per month.
The updated pricing also narrows the gap between the Hybrid and Electric versions. For instance, the GS Electric trim is just £1,845 more than its hybrid counterpart. Additional ownership savings can be achieved by charging during off-peak energy hours compared to petrol costs.
James Taylor, Managing Director at Vauxhall, stated, “Vauxhall is committed to electrifying Britain – we have an electric version of every car and van in the Vauxhall line-up and we are doing all we can to make Britain’s switch to electric simple and attainable for our customers. With the recent Budget confirming the introduction of the new Vehicle Excise Duty rules from April 2025, we are pleased to announce that two of our three New Grandland Electric versions, representing around an expected 80% of sales, will not attract this new tax – making going electric in our latest family SUV even more attainable”
The New Grandland Electric tops Vauxhall’s refreshed SUV range and is the first to utilize the STLA Medium platform. It features a 73kWh (net) battery, a 213hp motor with 345Nm torque, and a standard heat pump for energy efficiency, offering up to 325 miles (WLTP) per charge. It supports 160kW rapid charging, enabling a 20-80% charge in just 26 minutes.
Vauxhall’s Plug & Go offer adds convenience for EV owners, including a £500 contribution toward a home wall box or public charging credit. Customers purchasing through participating retailers can also collect 50,000 Tesco Clubcard points, worth £500. Additionally, buyers receive an Octopus Electroverse card for access to 850,000 public chargers across the UK and Europe. The package includes an eight-year/100,000-mile battery warranty and three years of roadside assistance.
This new structure extends across Vauxhall’s electric range, reducing prices significantly.
Vauxhall has also announced the New Frontera Electric and Frontera Hybrid, both starting at £23,495 OTR, marking the first UK offering of price parity between electric and hybrid versions of the same vehicle.
