The Motability Scheme provides an affordable, worry-free way for people with disabilities to lease a car, scooter or powered wheelchair in exchange for their mobility allowance. The Scheme is operated by Motability Operations Ltd, under contract to Motability, a registered Charity.

To qualify, you must be receiving one of the following allowances:

• Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
• Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
• War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement (WPMS)
• Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)

Is there an advance payment?

Some vehicles are available with no advance payment, while others may require an upfront payment depending on the model and specifications.

Does it take long to apply and when will I get my new car?

Typically we will place a fresh factory order just for you but in some cases where you need a vehicle straight away, we can try to source a vehicle which is already built. We will keep you updated every step of the way and we can often turn this around from your order to collection within 10 working days.

What happens at the end of the lease?

Motability will contact you prior to the end of your lease and inform you of your options

• You can return the vehicle and not renew with Motability
• You can come in to see us and order your new vehicle. When it arrives, you simply drop off your vehicle and collect your new one.
• You can also purchase the vehicle at its residual value.​
