Vauxhall led the UK’s electric car market in 2024 across retail and Motability channels combined.
The success of the Corsa Electric and Mokka Electric positioned Vauxhall as the top brand for electric vehicle sales in the combined B-segment during 2024.
The Corsa Electric was named the UK’s best-selling electric supermini of 2024.
Vauxhall sold over 15,000 electric cars in 2024, securing a 4.15% share of the electric car market.
In the LCV market, Vauxhall ranked as the UK’s second best-selling van manufacturer in 2024 (excluding pick-ups), with the Vauxhall Combo placing second in the compact van segment.
By the end of 2024, Vauxhall fulfilled its commitment to offer a fully electric version of every car and van in its line-up.
According to 2024 new vehicle registration figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), Vauxhall achieved an 8.2% market share, securing its position as the leading electric car brand across retail and Motability channels combined.
The brand’s dominance was reinforced by the continued popularity of the Corsa Electric and Mokka Electric, which helped place Vauxhall at the top of the B-segment electric vehicle sales chart. The Corsa Electric maintained its title as the UK’s best-selling electric supermini with over 4,000 units sold in 2024.
Vauxhall’s total electric car sales reached 15,862 in 2024, up from 12,026 in 2023, representing a 31% increase and a 4.15% share of the electric car market—surpassing its 4.04% share of the overall car market.
In the light commercial vehicle (LCV) sector, Vauxhall ended 2024 as the UK’s second best-selling van manufacturer (excluding pick-ups), with sales growing from 34,632 to 36,474. This boosted the brand’s market share from 9.93% to 10.08%. The Vauxhall Combo ranked second in the compact van segment, while the Vivaro secured second place in the medium van category.
James Taylor, Managing Director of Vauxhall, commented:
“2024 marked a significant milestone for Vauxhall as we met our commitment to offer a fully electric version across our entire car and van line-up. Last year also saw our electric models continue to grow in popularity, with Vauxhall leading the way in electric car sales across retail and Motability channels combined. With our refreshed SUV line-up, including New Frontera and New Grandland, we now offer two models in the most-popular C-SUV segment, and I’m confident this will see more and more UK drivers switch to electric with Vauxhall in 2025 and beyond.”
