Vauxhall has revealed the Mokka GSE Rally, a striking new electric prototype that redefines the future of motorsport. Developed in line with the FIA’s new eRally5 regulations, the Mokka GSE Rally boasts a 207kW (280hp) powertrain and 345Nm of torque, signalling the next chapter in sustainable rallying.
Set to make its rally debut at the ELE Rally Eindhoven on May 23–24, the Mokka GSE Rally is more than just a concept—it’s a preview of what electric rally cars of tomorrow could become.
“Electric rallying is a winning success and excites fans,” said Florian Huettl, CEO of Opel & Vauxhall. “With the Mokka GSE Rally, we’re offering a glimpse of a fully electric next-generation rally car.”
Built on the foundation of the production Mokka, the GSE Rally takes performance to a new level. Featuring a racing gearbox, multi-plate limited-slip differential, reinforced driveshafts and lightweight chassis, it is engineered for competitive environments. The Bilstein rally suspension with reinforced McPherson struts, uniball mounts and a rigid rear axle ensures sharp, composed handling on challenging terrain.
The prototype retains the standard model’s 54kWh battery, but with performance-focused software derived from the Corsa Rally Electric, delivering optimised efficiency, torque management and high-voltage safety under extreme rally conditions.
Its visual presence is no less commanding. An ‘OMG! GSE’ decal wrap, contrasting yellow brake callipers, bespoke alloy wheels, roof-mounted air intake and “MOKKA GSE RALLY” bonnet branding define the bold exterior. Inside, the car is equipped for FIA-certified safety, including a full roll cage, six-point harnesses, a fire-suppression system, and high-voltage isolation sensors that respond in milliseconds in the event of a collision.
Rebecca Reinermann, Vice-President of Marketing at Opel-Vauxhall, commented: “The Mokka GSE Rally will set Vauxhall Motorsport fans’ pulses racing and deliver real ‘OMG!’ moments. It proves our GSE sub-brand is moving to the next level in 2025 with electric thrills and high-level performance true to our motorsport heritage.”
As the world’s first electric rally car developed under eRally5 regulations, the Mokka GSE Rally stands ready to influence a new generation of global rally competitions. While the UK has yet to field entries in the all-electric ADAC Opel Electric Rally Cup, this prototype may pave the way for Vauxhall’s wider motorsport involvement in coming seasons.
Since its launch in 2021, the Electric Rally Cup—powered by GSE—has seen 63 drivers from 13 nations compete in over 30 events across Europe, proving that electric motorsport is both viable and thrilling.
With the Mokka GSE Rally, Vauxhall is not just showcasing an electrified future—it’s helping shape it.
