The new Zoopla tools — powered by location data from Octopus Electroverse and shaped by insights from Vauxhall’s Electric Streets of Britain campaign — give users the ability to:
It’s a major leap forward in making EVs more practical for more people — and reflects how important charging access has become in day-to-day decisions.
According to recent Vauxhall research:
And yet, despite EVs making up one in four new car sales (a number that’s growing fast), only 1.6% of Zoopla listings currently mention EV charging. That’s a missed opportunity for agents — and a challenge for home seekers that this new partnership aims to fix.
The partnership builds on Vauxhall’s wider Electric Streets of Britain initiative, launched in 2023 to make public EV charging more accessible — especially for the 40% of UK households without a driveway.
So far:
As Steve Catlin, Managing Director at Vauxhall, puts it:
“Moving house is one of the biggest decisions most of us make in our lifetime, and anyone who’s done it knows how much effort can go into finding the perfect home.
As EVs become an even more common sight on our roads, more and more people will be prioritising charging access when thinking about where to live.
Vauxhall is absolutely committed to electrifying Britain, so, as a leader in the property industry, Zoopla was the perfect partner to help drivers find a new home that will allow them to charge EVs with ease. Whether charging at home or on-street, we hope the features we have worked with Zoopla to introduce go some way to make decisions around buying and renting a new home that little bit easier for millions across the country.”
This collaboration isn’t just about convenience — it’s about accelerating infrastructure where it’s lacking.
While the UK now boasts over 82,000 public EV charge points (a 30% year-on-year increase), nearly a third are in London. Outside the capital, the picture is more mixed. Vauxhall’s work with CENEX found that only 19% of households that need on-street charging are currently close to a public charger. That’s why clear guidance and better visibility — especially through mainstream platforms like Zoopla — are so important.
Daniel Copley, Consumer Expert at Zoopla, said:
“We’re proud to be the first property website to offer consumers the ability to find the nearest on-street chargers to a property, and filter properties with home-charging.
Buyer requirements are constantly evolving as a result of factors like lifestyle changes and commuting patterns. By improving Zoopla’s search functionality, our aim is that we will empower more confident moving decisions, particularly for current and future EV owners.”
This isn’t just about property searches. It’s about building a future where EV ownership is possible for everyone — not just those with a driveway.
Vauxhall has already delivered a fully electric version of every model in its line-up — from city cars to vans — and every EV it sells is priced under the £40,000 threshold, helping customers avoid the Expensive Car Supplement (saving them up to £2,125 over six years in tax). The brand continues to lead the charge, having sold over 15,000 electric vehicles in 2024 alone, making it the top-selling EV brand across the UK Retailer Network.
As Britain moves towards the 2030 ban on new petrol and diesel car sales, these kinds of partnerships will play a critical role in making the electric switch as seamless as possible.
