Vauxhall has announced pricing and specification for its Grandland Electric AWD – the brand’s first fully electric model available with all-wheel drive.
Offering enhanced power of 325PS and torque of 509Nm, the Grandland Electric AWD delivers stronger straight-line performance, combined with upgraded handling, and is available in generously equipped GS and Ultimate trims.
Powertrain
Grandland Electric AWD features a 73kWh usable lithium-ion NMC battery that delivers up to 311 miles (WLTP) of range. Recharging is efficient with only a short stop of 26 minutes required to charge from 20% to 80% at a 160kW DC rapid charger.
Thanks to the introduction of the new all-wheel drive system, drivers can enjoy enhanced power and performance. The system combines the 213PS front-wheel drive electric motor featured in the standard Grandland Electric and couples it with an additional 112PS electric motor for the rear wheels. Thanks to this combination, Grandland Electric AWD provides a total power output of 325PS, maximum torque of 509Nm and a 0-62mph time of just 6.1 seconds.
For an elevated driving experience, Grandland Electric AWD offers four distinct drive modes:
Design
Grandland Electric AWD features exclusive design enhancements that provide an even sportier appearance while reducing wind resistance. Aerodynamically optimised inserts on the front and rear bumpers, along with its 20-inch two-tone aero wheels, make the Electric AWD the most aerodynamically efficient Grandland model, with a drag coefficient (Cd) of just 0.278.
The new addition to the Grandland family shares the same impressive design as the others in the range. Vauxhall’s bold and pure design language sets the Grandland Electric AWD apart with its signature 3D Vizor front grille, complemented by the illuminated Griffin logo, which is prominent thanks to Edge Light Technology. The new illuminated logo is also accompanied on the Ultimate trim by the award-winning and industry-leading Intelli-Lux HD headlights.
At the rear, the Grandland Electric AWD features the permanently illuminated “VAUXHALL” lettering. In addition, a hands-free powered tailgate is included as standard on AWD versions.
Handling
Both driving pleasure and comfort are enhanced further by dampers with frequency-selective damping technology. This unique technology comes as standard on the Grandland Electric AWD and incorporates a second hydraulic circuit in the damper chamber to mechanically adapt the damping force in relation to the vibration frequency.
Depending on the situation, road surface conditions and driving style, it enables different damping capabilities for comfortable gliding at high frequencies – i.e. short, sharp impacts such as driving over cobblestones or a manhole cover – as well as for a sporty, dynamic driving style with direct contact with the road at low frequencies.
Grandland Electric AWD reacts even more immediately and directly to any command from the driver and, as is typical for Vauxhall, remains stable when braking, cornering and driving at high speeds on the motorway. The Vauxhall DNA is further emphasised by specific spring, anti-roll bar, steering and ESC tuning.
Specification
The new Grandland Electric AWD is available with an impressive standard specification and comes in two trim levels: stylish GS and top-of-the-range Ultimate trim.
As standard, GS features a 16-inch centrally mounted infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ and satellite navigation, complete with wireless smartphone charging. A 10-inch digital cluster in front of the driver also provides essential information.
GS models are distinguished by 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, a black roof, front and rear high gloss black bumpers, a rear glossy black spoiler, dark-tinted rear windows and an illuminated 3D Vauxhall Vizor and Griffin. Unique to the AWD version, a power tailgate is also offered as standard.
Inside, comfort is enhanced with a heated steering wheel. There is also ambient lighting with a choice of seven colours and the innovative Pixel Box phone storage in the centre console. The opaque glass panel means that when the car ignition is turned off, the phone illuminates, prompting the driver to remember to take it with them. But the slidable fabric cover means that it doesn’t distract whilst driving. Inside are USB-C and inductive charging capabilities.
Safety features that come as standard include a rear-view camera, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go function, Lane Keep Assist, Intelligent Speed Adaptation, front and rear parking sensors, and Intelli-LED headlights and rear lights.
Top-of-the-range Ultimate trim enhances the already impressive standard safety features available, adding Lane Change Assist, Semi-Autonomous Lane-Change, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Curve-Speed Adaptation and Intelli-Vision (a 360° panoramic camera). Ultimate models also feature Intelli-Lux HD headlights, Vauxhall’s most advanced lighting system with more than 50,000 individual elements, delivering outstanding visibility in all conditions without dazzling other drivers.
Inside, a heated windscreen, heated front seats and power folding rear mirrors are added with the Ultimate trim. As well as this, the sound system is upgraded to a Focal premium hi-fi sound system featuring 10 speakers and a subwoofer. Ultimate trim also features Intelli-HUD, an extended head-up display providing the driver with essential information.
Outside, the standard 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels are increased to 20-inch on the Ultimate (Electric only).
Electric All In
As with all Vauxhall electric cars, the Grandland Electric AWD is available with the Electric All In package to make the transition to electric easier than ever, with access to a variety of charging solutions to provide the ultimate in peace of mind electric motoring.
With the Electric All In offer, retail customers of Vauxhall’s electric range benefit from eight years of comprehensive roadside assistance, including emergency charging assistance.
