Using your mobility allowance to pay for a new car is an important choice for the life you plan to lead. And Motability is your perfect motoring partner. For thousands of people with disabilities and their families, it’s the key to trouble-free motoring and the open road. We take care of the practicalities, including: a single, regular payment which includes insurance, maintenance and RAC roadside recovery routine servicing, and tyres at no extra cost a unique customer service help line so you can enjoy the freedom of the road.
Who can apply?
To use any of the Motability schemes you must be receiving one of the following benefits: Higher Rate Mobility Component of the Disability Living Allowance or War Pensioners Mobility Supplement. You should expect to receive the allowance for the full length of the agreement you choose. But don’t worry; we welcome applications as long as you have at least 12 months award length remaining when you apply. An application for a car can also be made on behalf of a child aged three or older, who is entitled to the mobility allowance, and even if you don’t drive, but receive the allowance, you can apply for a car as a passenger and propose two other people as your drivers.

Motability Contract Hire Scheme*
This low cost rental package is the most popular of Motability’s schemes because of its simplicity. You just exchange your Mobility allowance for the use of a brand new Vauxhall for three years, during which time it will be serviced, insured and fully maintained, including full RAC cover. There is also cover for tyres for wear and punctures, and windscreens.

If you are a Blue Badge holder, receive either the Severe Disablement Allowance, Higher Rate Mobility Component/Disability Living Allowance (DLA) or Lower Rate Mobility Component of the DLA, this is the plan for you.
